RIP Neil Armstrong

I was sad to read this morning that Neil Armstrong has passed away at the age of 82. It has however been suggested that he would not be amused by all this attention being lavished on him since he considered himself a “nerdy engineer” doing a job for his country. His family said “Neil Armstrong was also a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job.” He was more than that though, he was an inspiration to millions and for that reason alone he deserves all the praise and admiration he has received.


Things to do before you die: Fly in a U2 Spy Plane

Back in 2009, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the moon landings, the BBC commissioned a pair of documentaries featuring James May of Top Gear fame. The first of these was entitled James May on the Moon and I am unable to find the full episode on YouTube. This documentary was an hour long and looked at the challenges of getting to the moon.
