Different day, different elections, same old story

So the dust has settled on the chaos that is the latest round of elections taking place around the world and the headlines are that Syria’s are a sham, France has just elected a new president, the Greeks’ have made a messy situation even worse, while in the UK Labour have made big gains although they failed to unseat the mayor of London – Boris Johnson. No vote, no complaining!

For those of you that don’t know, many of the local councils and several cities across the UK are holding elections today. The polls close at 2200. If you’re eligible to vote and haven’t done so, then bloody well get out there and vote! If however you feel that you’re too important, or busy to vote then feel free. You will however be unable to moan about anything political until such point that you do vote though! While I’m here, I would like to wish my friend and colleague Cllr. Jules Gascoigne the best of luck with his re-election bid.

Why I’m ashamed of the 81.5%

There are 3846 people in the White Oak ward of Swanley, Kent that should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. In fact, lets not beat around the bush, you’re a bunch of lazy idiots! Why? Simple, the powers that be organised a by-election for the town council, and the turnout was a pathetic 18.5%, meaning approximately 3846 people couldn’t be arsed to vote. Like I said, pathetic! The result was 409 votes to the Conservative candidate and 464 to the Labour candidate, and putting aside the fact that I regard the Labour party with the same level of respect as Hitler….

So you think it’s bad in the UK… You should take a look at Taiwan!

For any Taiwanese reading this, I understand that the politics of this lovely country are somewhat complicated, but I would like to pose a question and that I am going to upset a majority by asking this but… What kind of idiot would vote for the Blue Party? Seriously, here you have a great country that is open in terms of personal and corporate freedom, that is relatively free of corruption and is regarded as a world leader in terms of technology.
