Today marks a big phase of the development of CallamMcMillan.com in that I have virtually finished all the big outstanding tasks on the public side of the site although there is still quite a lot to do on the private side of the site before I can sit back and say it’s done.
When I am ready to publish what you read now, I have to manually insert it into the database that supports this site using my domain administration console. As you can imagine this is hard work and time consuming.
If you take a couple of minutes to read the about page, you’ll see that I decided to build this platform because I couldn’t find a pre-built content management system that did what I want without needing some recoding, and I hate working on other people’s code! If you find yourself in a similar position of needing a blogging platform then I would urge you to think long and hard before setting off down the path of building your own. On the other hand, if you do, and you have the skills necessary to do so, then you’re in for a relationship with your website that is both incredibly frustrating but rewarding also.
